Henley-on-Thames Tour

The regatta held here every July since 1839 is a key event on the rowing and social calendar. The town is also charming in its own right, especially in summer, when visitors come by land and by river to eat and drink at the old waterside pubs.

The approach from the east is delightful, with the medieval church beyond the 18th-century bridge. A handful of Tudor buildings lend the town centre a special character. Nearby are two stately homes worth visiting: to the north, Stonor Park, inhabited by the same family for 800 years; and to the west, Greys Court, an unusual Jacobean house with Georgian additions.
